Let’s Live Well Workshop Series
Question: Is it possible to live a healthy life despite a chronic illness?
Answer: YES!!
We are looking for a group of 6 to 18 people who will commit to a 6-week workshop where you will learn proven ways to effectively self-manage chronic illnesses, such as depression, obesity, arthritis, emphysema and hypertension.
Each week the group will focus on a different topic and different self-management tools. Each workshop lasts approximately 2 hours. You can learn tips, suggestions and strategies from the leaders of the group (trained at Stanford University).
Some of the topics include:
- Developing and maintaining an exercise and nutrition program
- Learning how to manage the symptoms of your condition
- Determining when to seek medical help
- Working effectively with your doctors
- Using your medications and minimizing the side effects
- Finding community resources
- Discussing your condition with family and friends, and
- Adjusting your social activities to your particular condition.
This workshop was originally based on a five-year study conducted at Stanford University with hundreds of volunteers. This work has grown and now includes the feedback of people with chronic conditions and medical professionals.
Does this sound like the answer for which you have been searching? If so, can you commit to attending each of the six workshops? If you are interested and are ready to make the commitment to get help to self-manage a chronic illness, please sign up on the breezeway. We are giving options so that we can accommodate the most people at the best time.
