We are blessed to have a very talented and gifted music director in Alex Bootzin. Alex's training and experience include a B.A. degree in Piano Performance and a M.A. in Musicology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as several years as a choir director in Southern California, and six years at Temple Beth Torah in Fremont. He is active as a solo pianist, chamber music recitalist, and accompanist - currently for Peninsula Cantare at Canada College in Redwood City. He also teaches piano and voice through the Spindrift School of Performing Arts in Pacifica, and over the past fifteen years has been musical director for numerous musical theater productions.
Our organist is Douglas Franks, a longtime Bay Area church musician. He has a Master's Degree in Organ
Performance and has performed in recital and as an accompanist throughout the Bay Area over the years. He has worked with various choral organizations, including Ragazzi Boys Chorus and Masterworks Chorale. He is currently on the faculty of the San Francisco Girls Chorus and is accompanist and vocal coach at the City College of San Francisco. Douglas teaches piano and organ privately and is active in the American Guild of Organists. A past board member of the San Francisco Chapter, he recently finished four years service as a board member for the Peninsula Chapter of the AGO and as the Chapter's Newsletter Editor. He is a prolific composer of organ hymn accompaniments, and many of his organ settings and festive introductions to hymns are being published by Augsburg Fortress Press in a new multi-volume organ accompaniment edition for use with the new ELW hymnal.
